I had the pork ragu and it was wonderful. The cocktails were average, and the service was slow when it wasn't very busy.
Our go-to place for craft cocktails whenever we are in town. Huge selection of spirits, and the bartenders are knowledgeable and can recommend or modify drinks to suit your taste. There's a smoky Japanese -whisky old fashioned that my husband likes and I think smells absolutely amazing, even though I don't like Old Fashioneds. I personally really like the Fig and Stitious, served up. The food menu looks creative and truly delicious, so after many visits we finally decided to try some food and order a dessert - fried bread pudding, served with caramel marscapone and berry coulis. Absolutely delicious, with a nice caramelization on the edges. Every other time we've come, the vibe has been laid back and classy. Last night (a Saturday) , it got really busy and loud by 9 pm. Think rowdy 20-somethings with vodka drinks crowding 3 at a time into a bathroom, or whistling loudly - not my jam, but if that's what you're into, then this is your place. I'm still giving the spot 5 stars because the food and drinks are fantastic, I'll probably just avoid it on Saturdays during the holidays.
Decided to check out their Burger as it was listed as one of Sarasota's top 10 burgers and it did not disappoint. The burger was amazing...but we have I'll give some big thanks for the great service and warm welcome. We walked in about 10 minutes before their kitchen closed...they were great...welcomed us warmly and we didn't feel rushed at all. Great spot, food and service all around.
This restaurant restored my faith in going out to dinner. Dana, our server, was highly knowledgeable and personable. Everything he recommended was amazing. We had the Ibérico Pork, the steak special for the evening, the crispy skin salmon and the pork ragú. Everything was so good that we came back for brunch, which was also exquisite. We got lucky and had Dana as our server again. The manager was ever present and was very nice to our table as well. We can't wait to go back!
Wow! What an impressive evening at every level. Do not hesitate and book this restaurant for your next food adventure. The moment you walk into this establishment, you know the vibe is cool and these people know their food and spirits. The food is incredible, different than the typical Sarasota restaurant that has the same boring food offerings. I was impressed with the Iberico pork dish and unusually amazingly flavored vegetables and spices that accented the smoky tender pork. The yuca in the pork dish was similar to a potato but more flavorful and crispier. I haven't found a dish that impressed me more in recent years. The crispy salmon was a "Wow" moment for my friend, who hails from the Pacific Northwest as do I, where Washingtonians know a thing or two about salmon. This restaurant provides your palate something different and if you're a veteran of dining out constantly, this is a welcomed change from the ordinary. The New York steak included an amazing demi glaze exploding with flavor and had the perfect consistency which can be a challenge to make right but State Street Eatinghouse + Cocktails got it right. I highly recommend the fried Brussell sprouts as they were an orgasm explosion in our mouths, the bacon amplified it with the accompaniment of the balsamic glaze. My friend's husband and mine, who usually don't like this vegetable, were pleasantly surprised and ate more than the obligatory "try one" portion. The owners of this restaurant own Beso, which I recently tried, and awarded it my "Best Restaurant in Sarasota" award. This restaurant belongs in the "Restaurant Hall of Fame" of Sarasota or even US restaurants. I love it! My waiter, Dana, was super attentive and impressive. His vast knowledge of the drink and food menu was spot-on and his candor and expertise added to the whole evening's experience. What an amazing restaurant! I can't wait to book my next reservation and I'm kicking myself for not trying it sooner. Cheers! Dietary restrictions: I appreciate they were mindful of my cow's milk allergy which makes eating out difficult since most dishes have butter and/or cheese. Thank you for helping me feel confident about eating here.
A nice little cafe with patio seating in downtown Sarasota. The ambiance is very nice with the restaurant's indoor and outdoor seating - you can people watch during the farmers market. Food quality is superb here. The breakfast bowl was delicious in every way. Service was efficient but not the absolute best. Prices are a little bit inflated for the offerings, but typical Sarasota fare nowadays.
Their drinks are go-to. If you get to know with the bartenders, they will suggest the ones you like. Whether it's liquor or cocktails. The service is superb. Food-wise, I think it depends... hit or miss. Night time food was okay and brunch food was better.
Another great dinner at the bar and our server was Lisette [she is the BEST!!] Started with the House Baked Ciabatta and flatbread and sea salt butter the ciabatta is my FAV!! I had been wanting to go back for the Pork Ragu [house-made pappardelle, Pomodoro, whipped ricotta, and fried rosemary], and let me just say this...it was worth the wait! This dish is NOT heavy in the least bit like most pork ragu's I'd love to buy the house-made pappardelle noodles!! My friend had my other favorite dish the Crispy Skin Salmon she loved it. Next time I will try the burger unless one of their board specials steers me away. Cocktails we had the Lisette special all I can tell you is Tequila is the base and it's divine. As we wrapped up the evening from the Sweet Streets corner we opted for the Cookies + Creams...WHOLLY *&^% this is AMAZING just go for it! Perfect for 2-4 people to share.
Had a good dinner here last week. We made reservations on Resy which I would recommend if you're planning to go. Make sure you check out their specials board which the server will likely take you thru too. Gone a Rye was a nice opening cocktail and the 20 yr Heaven Hill closed out the meal in style. For food we tried the Ahi app special, Brussels Sprouts, and Fries. For entrees we had the Pork Ragu pasta and Butcher's Cut steak. All were excellent and highly recommend. Service from Ralph was solid, he was present without being overbearing.
Amazing selection of unique craft cocktails. With variety of international liquors. For example, Japanese whisky. I was really impressed by the variety of craft cocktails to choose from. From the classics to original concepts. It ultimately narrowed it down between "the scholar" and "yagisaki fashioned". The yagisaki fashioned was described as old fashioned inspired drink, using Japanese whisky, lavender syrup, with tobacco pipe smoke. I ultimately went with the scholar because I wasn't sure I would like the tobacco pipe flavor. The scholar was excellent. It was scotch, apple brandy, green chartreuse, and cocoa served. The glass with cocoa liquor and cocoa powder. The cocoa liquor and cocoa powder are put in the glass first and lit on fire. Then the rest of the ingredients are poured over it. It's also garnished with coffee beans. 10/10. Nice atmosphere. The have a great wine display room that has windows for walls. Service was great. The bartender was very knowledgeable.
